Going as a Missionary
If you have a passion for sharing the gospel with the lost, we could use you on our evangelism teams. Every day groups depart from the boat and share the gospel one on one or in small groups with the people of the village. In the evenings, we have a small service where we share the Jesus Film, our testimonies, and God's Word. We also need pastors and good teachers who can disciple others in Bible studies or in daily devotionals. Medical professionals in almost any area are in great need. Most health concerns are common problems that are easily remedied, but more specialized needs are also diagnosed. Dentists are the busiest doctors because the people have no toothbrushes and have never been taught the basics of general hygiene. We would like to take dentists whenever possible.
Vacation Bible School for the children is held once or twice each day and we need people who love children and can help with daily Bible lessons, singing songs and making crafts. Men and women in the Amazon are in desperate lack of Bible instruction. Most of them do not own a Bible and /or have had an incorrect teaching of God's Word. We would like to have people who would enjoy working with the adults in the village. Along with Bible study, women need counseling in marriage, hygiene and child rearing. The men need counseling in marriage, alcoholism and parenting.
Some trips require construction expertise to build churches, add on to existing buildings or repair homes. If you are knowledgeable in any area of construction or if you know you are trainable and would like to help build or paint, you are greatly needed.
Sending Others
Amazon Vision Ministries would like to team with partner churches that are willing to support our organization with prayer, financial support and by gathering needed items. Prayer is our lifeline to knowing God's purpose and direction for our ministry. The necessity of ongoing prayer coverage for our organization and for the many people involved with Amazon Vision Ministries is critical. For every trip there is a list of specific requests that we would like to be covered by prayer.
There are hundreds of ways God can use your resources to glorify Him. You may choose to be a partner with Amazon Vision Ministries and the teams being sent through your financial support. You can donate to a specific person being sent, give to Amazon Vision Ministries in general or give to a specific need (boats for pastors, churches, land, etc.).
The people in the villages along the Amazon River live very simple lives and get by on meager supplies. Many children do not have shoes and have very little clothing. The men are fishermen, but don't have proper fishing equipment. There are extreme health and medical needs, but no medical supplies. There are schools, but nothing to fill them. We could use people who can help us collect or donate the needed supplies to take to these humble people. They are so appreciative of everything we take to them and wonder why we have come so far to help them and show them love.
