Get Involved

There are many ways you can be involved with the fulfilling the vision:

Intercede

We are confident that we can do nothing without the leadership of the Lord and His power to change lives.  Would you join us in praying that:

  • God would prepare the hearts of the people along the banks of the west Amazon basin to be ready to hear the good news and to respond with joy.
  • The teams already planned for the 2012 schedule would soon be joined by others who are currently praying about going this year.
  • God would begin to call out churches to prepare committed teams for 2013
  • Funding needed to take to gospel forward in the west Amazon basin would continue to arrive from those the Lord leads to give.
  • Scheduled teams would deeply sense God's favor and would be diligent to prepare for their time in the Amazon River Basin.
  • Teams traveling to the Basin would remain safe, healthy and focused during their trips.
  • God would provide wisdom and guidance for the AVM Board of Directors as they continue the work that God has entrusted to them.

Give Thanks

  • Thank the Lord for over 23,000 recorded decisions for Christ during these years.
  • Thank Him that our teams have treated over 16,000 people in clinics, and conducted a myriad of evangelism, discipleship, and children's VBS activities in over 70 different remote river communities.
  • Thank the Lord for the innumerable personal blessings that have been received by those short term volunteers who have joined Him by walking through the open door!

 It would be a blessing to have you partner with us financially.  Our purpose is not to build a ministry.  Our purpose is to utilize all contributions to directly impact the people of the river.

There are two ways that you can be part of the actual process. 

If you have a passion for sharing the gospel with the lost, It would be wonderful to have you as part of an evangelism team.

Every day groups depart from the boat and share the gospel one on one or in small groups with the people of the village. In the evenings, we have a small service where we share the Jesus Film, our testimonies, and God's Word. We also need pastors and good teachers who can disciple others in Bible studies or in daily devotion. Medical professionals in almost any area are in great need. Most health concerns are common problems that are easily remedied, but more specialized needs have been diagnosed. Dentists are the busiest doctors because the people have no toothbrushes and have never been taught the basics of general hygiene. Coupling doctors and dentists with evangelism teams has been a very successful part of ministry on the river.

Vacation Bible School for the children is held once or twice each day. People who love children accomplish great things through daily Bible lessons, singing songs and making crafts. Men and women in the Amazon also are in desperate need of Bible instruction. Many of them do not own a Bible and most have had an little instruction in God's Word. Some trips require construction expertise to build churches, add on to existing buildings or repair homes. If you are knowledgeable in any area of construction or if you know you are trainable and would like to help build or paint, you can also be greatly used of God..

Sending Others

Some people have a deep desire to be part of reaching those on the river, yet physical incapacity or pressing needs here at home keep them from being a physical part of a team.  There ARE other ways to be involved.  Every team that goes needs greater intercession.  Each member of the teams will need at least $2000 for airfare and for the expenses of the trip.  We are pleased to be able to come alongside these ministry partners when funds are given to assist them.  If you are led to give in this way, please don't hesitate to tell us.
